Programme notes

Invocazione all’ignoto, translated into English as “Invocation to the unknown”, constitutes an explorative work within my catalogue. Musically, it introduces unusual elements to my aesthetics such as the development of the melody and the inclusion of cycles as an important part in the dramaturgy, the fact that the entire piece is related to the note C or certain ways in which the timbre of the instruments is conceived.

But the essence of the piece lies on an exploration of the obscurity within oneself and its confrontation against the surrounding world. Invocazione all’ignoto arises from a combination of intellectual structuration, meditation and the trance provoked by an external source of sound. All these elements influenced each other in the compositional process, creating an estrange and new workflow.

Thus, it is an explorative work. Thus, it is meditative music. Thus, the trance arises from it. Thus, it invocates the unknown.
